THE Bank South Pacific Rural Banking Yangoru branch in East Sepik has begun its mobile banking campaign in Yangoru-Saussia district.

The campaign started after Prime Minister Peter O’Neill opened the bank’s sub-branch in Yangoru early this year.

By yesterday it had registered more than 1,000 new customers.

Yangoru rural banking manager Michael Java told The National yesterday from Paparom village on the Sepik highway that the activity was gaining momentum as more were opening new accounts.

“We have already covered some villages along the highway in Yangoru and have now moved to Kubalia starting with Paparom on Tuesday.

“Forty-three new accounts were opened that day and we continued yesterday as over 50 wanted to open new bank accounts,” Java said.

The bank is marketing its Kundu Saver Account product where clients were required to open their personal accounts for on K10 with no fees attached.
