A GROUP of 43 Bank of South Pacific staff from various branches around the country have completed a Trainer of Trainer course in financial literacy.
The course was delivered through the Bank of PNG in partnership with the Centre for Excellence in Finance Inclusion.
According to BSP, the four-day training incorporates financial education on savings and budgeting, and business development skills which would target micro and small to medium entrepreneur customers.
CEFI director Saliya Ranasinghe reiterated the need for trainers to be role models in their communities.
“The trainer needs to know how to save and build a savings, before they can train others to budget.”
BSP Group general manager retail Paul Thornton told the staff to be proud of their achievements.
“BSP has 120 qualified trainers, which is an investment we are proud of. Our network make it feasible for BSP to reach the rural and the unbanked population,” Thornton said.
BPNG Assistant Governor Ellison Pidik said BSP provided 90 per cent of financial literacy education to the banking population of PNG.
