THREE employees of Bank of South Pacific will be on a three-month secondment to Bank of Philippine Islands.

Kili Tambua, Merolyn Samson, Kami Gawi would be the third batch to be on overseas secondment, as part of BSP’s leadership and management development programme.

They would be attached to BPI from Sept 7th to Nov 27th. Six staff members have participated in LMDP since 2013.

BSP Group deputy chief executive Johnson Kalo said the bank’s focus was to improve its sales and service capabilities and to achieve this; it must invest in its asset – human resource. LMDP’s objective was to mentor and develop staff to take on senior and executive leadership roles within the bank.

“The exchange programme is part of a bigger drive to ensure that tomorrow’s leaders are prepared for challenges, hence emerging leaders will be exposed to a range of training and development programmes as well, supported by mentoring and coaching,” Kalo said.

It is envisaged that post-attachment with BPI, the participants would be enriched with technical skills and knowledge, have a broadened perspective and increased awareness of other cultures and international best practices, adding an international dimension to their careers.

Gawi, a business controller with the bank’s corporate strategic business unit said: “This is an opportunity to get exposure to best practices in an international bank and further enhance my leadership and management capabilities.”

Samson, head of international operations said: “This is a great opportunity to learn the different processes and management skills with focus on the key learning objectives of the programme.”
