THE holding of several nationwide conferences by the Certified Practicing Accountants PNG (CPA PNG) has been boosted with the K50,000 sponsorship by Bank South Pacific.
The bank yesterday maintained its role as annual platinum sponsor, which will go toward the staging of a series of conferences in:

  • Kokopo, East New Britain on June 22 with discussions on the theme ‘Empowering the Growth of the Micro (SME) Industry’;
  • Lae, Morobe on Aug 16-17 under the theme ‘How Innovation and Technology is Shaping the Accountants’ Future Role in Reporting and Compliance’; and,
  • Port Moresby on Nov 1-2 under the theme ‘Catalysts for Economic Growth, Global Opportunities and Local Challenges’.

BSP’s senior facilities management and project manager, Talitha Sengero, said the bank was keen to support initiatives towards the development of professionals.
She said BSP’s sponsorship of CPA PNG conferences started in 1995, when it signed up to be a gold sponsor.
“The knowledge, skill and diligence of professional and talented accountants, cannot be understated.”
“They monitor the performance of a business and ensure that transactions of the business are legitimate and accurate, Sengero said.
“We are happy to support the leading accountancy professional body that encourages accountants to share knowledge and experience during these meetings.”
CPA PNG president Richard Kuna thanked BSP for its continued support when receiving the money from Sengero. “We can assure BSP that the sponsorship will go a long way in the true spirit of integral human capital development in PNG,” he said.
“This support over the years has maintained the role of CPA in developing competent and professional accountants, through such conferences to serve corporate organisations in Papua New Guinea“.
