DARU Secondary School will soon have its dilapidated grandstand replaced – thanks to Bank South Pacific.
The BSP Daru branch will erect a new grandstand for the school as part of its community project for this year
Principal Wambi Samm welcomed BSP’s help, saying the grandstand was old and frail and unsafe for students to use during sports and other school events.
“The new grandstand will build morale among the 900 students and the surrounding community as it is used during sports and other important occasions,” Samm said.
This project is the branch’s fourth community project since BSP launched its nationwide community project in 2009.
The Daru branch projects include building a concrete footpath for Karakard School in 2009, a concrete walkway for the Callan Services Disabled Centre in 2010 and last year an overhead shelter for the Daru Urban Clinic.
All these projects, like others nationwide, are undertaken by BSP staff, who volunteer their time over weekends.
