THE bankers’ clash between Westpac and Bank South Pacific (BSP) ended 16-16 in the Private Companies Netball Competition (PCNC) in Port Moresby on Saturday.
Both sides were even at 8-8 at the break.
Westpac goal shooter Elina Ripason had 13 points from 15 attempts and should have won the game for her side had she also capitalised on her height advantage against defenders Gorethy Semi and Lynda Karo.
Goal-attack Jacqueline Kwalu and Barbara Kali had three from four attempts and should have used their height also but failed to do so.
BSP’s goal-attack Jacky Hape registered 14 points out of 15 attempts with another two points from former PNG Pepe Renagi Mulina against defenders Tuana Vagi and Kerry Agi.
In the mid-court, Westpac had centre Loi Lahui, wing-attack Notau Leka and wing-defence Freda Sinau up against BSP’s Theresa Mulina, Vavine Raula and Magaru Vanuawaru attacking and defending throughout the match.
In the other matches, Kina Bank beat Boroko Motors Ltd 17-13 and Moore Printing defeated Post-Courier 19-13.
PCNC president Julie Hau said the premier division had three games remaining while the other divisions had two more rounds to go before the semifinals.
Hau commended all the teams for making an effort to attend their matches on time.
She said “only through team work and cooperation the competition will end smoothly for the 2018/19 season”.
“We will make every attempt to publish our draws in the newspapers, as some members do not receive their emails quickly,” she said.
