Budget delay affects plans

A LATE 2021 Budget has delayed preparations and plans for most provinces, says Morobe Governor Ginson Saonu.
Saonu said Morobe’s budget was supposed to be passed last year.
“Due to national politics, the national government did not pass the Budget on time which delayed budget preparations for all provinces,” he said.
Saonu said while other provinces were smaller and the task of doing up their 2021 budget was easier, for Morobe, it would take a while.
“We cannot do this last minute or rush it in case the break-up is not fairly distributed among sectors,” he said.
“It would take some time for us to discuss and plan.”
