Build better roads to lessen dust in the city
The National, Tuesday September 17th, 2013
WHY are the sealed bitumen roads in Port Moresby so dusty?
There are street cleaners sweeping dust and gravel off the roads every day but they remain an eyesore.
This is because Port Moresby is full of dusty sidewalks and footpaths.
Can’t our city be dust-free like the ones in Australia or Singapore?
It is because we have poor infrastructure development and poor planning of our city.
It is just unbelievable if one compares our road infrastructure with our neighbours in West Papua, Thailand or even Fiji.
It is a huge embarrassment.
PNG is the largest Pacific island nation, but is so far behind in terms of road infrastructure.
If local companies are not fit to do the job, please bring in the Japanese or the Australians to do it for us at whatever the cost so that we can live in a dust-free city environment.
