SPEAKER Theo Zurenouc wants the Lutheran church to build a “Lutheran Parliament” in Finschhafen.

Zurenouc said this last Sunday during the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Papua New Guinea’s synod on Karkar Island in Madang.

Zurenuoc said the church nee to have its own headquarters so that it could operate well.

“A permanent headquarter will ensure that important church records are documented and properly kept,” Zurenouc said.

“Moving synod from place to place is not good. It is one of the reasons why many of our important records get missing.”

He is a Lutheran church member from Morobe and said hosting and moving synods from place to place was a very costly exercise.

Zurenouc said a permanent headquarter with conference facilities would solve the problem.

Zurenouc suggested to hundreds of Lutherans in Karkar that the headquarters he was referring to should be built in Finschafen.

He said this was necessary as Finschhafen was the birthplace of the Lutheran church in the country.

“We must give something back to my people who have brought the good news to you,” he said.

He said a headquarters in Finschafen would be symbolic as it served as a reminder of the history of the church in the country.
