Build libraries, improve English

Letters

JIWAKA MPs and other MPs should start building libraries. The level of spoken and written English in our schools is droppig. We have to create a reading culture among our students and people. Reading is a powerful skill that boosts the brain. Instead of spending too much time on social media, we should encourage reading. Schools should have big libraries equipped with updated books. The standard of education is dropping because people cannot perform well in English, which is key to mastering other subjects. For instance: in schools, students find it very hard to communicate with their teachers or among themselves in simple English. Students cannot speak nor write simple English.
They are reminded that books are the best teachers because they do not contain spelling mistakes and grammatical errors. Books, either novels, short stories, Bible, newspapers, magazines and encyclopedias are free of errors and are perfect to learn from. If we can have students and other citizens speak, write and understand  English well, we would have a smarter and intelligent generation.
