Bullets, Raings take out honours

SILVER Bullets and Raings are the better teams for the newly-established Butibam Volleyball Association’s (BVA) pre-season finals, after defeating Spartans and El-Street respectively, in the grand finals on Monday.
The finals, scheduled to end over the weekend was deferred to Monday because of poor lighting at the Ambesi courts at Hunter area, Lae.
The women’s battle was a one-sided affair with the Markham women smashing El-Street 25-21, 25-19 and 25-17.
In the battle of Butibam villagers, Spartans were expected to walk over Silver Bullets, however the Bullets turned the tables on their opponents with the trio of Lori Kesu, Damien Buala and Junior Maliaki displaying superb performances to win 3-1.
Spartans Yalu Lloyd and Desmond Nubunga could not repeat the heavy spikes of Sunday, although they showed a glimmer of hope in the third set.
In the lower division, Silver Bullets in the men’s and Raings in the women’s took out the third place honours.
The village’s socio-economic organisation, Butibam Progress presented nets and balls to the teams that finished in the top three.
