Bulolo gets transmitters to stay informed with news

THE people of Bulolo in Morobe will now have access to the latest news and information on National Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) radio and television.
Two transmitters for NBC radio and TV were installed at Bulolo on Friday by Communications and Information Technology Minister Timothy Masiu, National Planning and Monitoring Minister and Bulolo MP Sam Basil, NBC managing director Kora Nou and NBC board chairman Pius Tikili.
Basil said the switching on of the two transmitters was important for Bulolo where NBC TV would transmit using 185.24 MHz and NBC radio (NBC Morobe) will transmit using 95.0 FM.
“We’ve got 300 amps and 30km transmission power but with our mountains, the signal cannot sink through some areas but we’ll get quotations and put transmitters up at Wau, Mumeng and Baiyune to help,” he said.
NBC technicians were told to inform Basil if there any problem arises so he could have them fixed.
Masiu said the decision by Bulolo DDA to invite the National Broadcasting Corporation to their district was an important partnership.
He said information was a right for every citizen and they needed to know the development issues, decisions and with television, seeing was believing.
“I thank everyone who worked to make this project a reality and we’ll also put a submission through for NBC to go back to short wave (SW) frequencies,” Masiu said.
“Pomio district is working with NBC technicians to have NBC in their districts and I want other districts too to partner with us for this.”
National Broadcasting Corporation managing director Kora Nou said they were happy to bring their services to the bulk of the population.
He said the National Broadcasting Corporation could work with districts where there were Telikom towers to bring in these services.
