Bulolo’s rural electrification a role model, says executive

BULOLO’S rural electrification programme is a role model for other districts to emulate, PNG Power Ltd transmission and distribution manager Simo Kaupa says.
“By 2030, we will have 70 per cent of the country wired and the whole of Bulolo will light up.
“Bulolo is actually aligned to meet the Government’s 2030 medium-term development goal and 100 per cent by Vison 2050.”
Kaupa was speaking at the switching on of power at Mapos 2 village on Friday night by Prime Minister James Marape.
“PNG Power had been struggling to resource itself to deliver this essential service.
“The Government’s donation of two vehicles to help us deliver rural electrification services is greatly appreciated.”
Kaupa said Bulolo was different from other electorates because the district funded the high voltage down to the service line and connecting the households in one package.
“MPs in other districts in Papua New Guinea can use Bulolo as a role model because the district is sponsoring the distribution (high voltage) down to service and to households as well,” he said.
