THE new governing council board members of Bumayong Lutheran Secondary School in Lae have been challenged to see that it becomes a school of excellence in line with education reforms.
The plan for the school of excellence is expected to be launched in July. The new board members were sworn in at the board’s first meeting on Tuesday.
Planning committee chairman Moses Wanga said the new council members needed to ensure the school met Morobe government and the provincial education board school of excellence targets for grades 11 and 12.
Wanga and John Yawing arefull members while Reverend Hans Giegere and Wanu Tamu are alternate members.
The board re-elected Jacob Sawanga as chairman and Wavia Ganeki as deputy.
The members of the discipline committee and finance and planning were also elected.
Sawanga said: “In the past, our parents depended upon customary land parcels, rivers, swamps and forests as their wealth for survival but in the modern world, education is the only fundamental aspect for our children’s future.”
Giegere said: “Knowing God means knowing our own identity that ensures us to realise our neighbours, respect others and love and serve one another regardless.”
