THE Madang Visitors and Cultural Bureau (MVCB) is urging Madang people to support the arts and craft market that takes place on the last Saturday of every month.
The MVCB’s Haus Tumbuna is used to display the local people’s ware.
The monthly displays give locals the opportunity to display their items at a central location, so people wanting to buy them or just admire their skills can go to one central location.
MVCB project officer Peter Imbal said craft market was one of the initiatives of MVCB to promote arts and craft activity in Madang.
He said their target markets were tourists and businesses as Madang is a popular tourists and conference destination.
“Our main buyers are expatriates and nationals working in Madang and students and staff from institutions within Madang,” Mr Imbal said.
He said the craft market was a “trial and error” project.
“We started the project last August and it is slowly improving,” Mr Imbal said.
