Bureaucracy needs shake-up

Letters

MY views are intended to shake the bureaucracy to rise up and to ‘Take Back PNG’.
Over time, the public have raised concerns to the bureaucracy – government departments and agencies – for better service delivery.
These government bodies, vested with powers under the constitution, are so complacent.
If they are performing – their performances are measured at a snail’s pace and most are as good as money sucking machines.
These institutions have constitutional powers to investigate a complaint without fear or favour.
The problem is these institutions have over time built a slow tendency to address important matters.
Complaints does not necessarily have to be from politicians but the common citizens.
There should be equal treatment of citizens and politicians when it comes to investigations and making decisions or recommendations in exercising their conferred powers.
The civil service needs to rise up, realign its operation charters, and take queue in the prime minister’s call to ‘Take Back PNG’.
It’s unconstitutional for these bodies to pretend that they are doing something when in fact are adding to the inefficiency in service delivery.
If it is a matter of public service personnel, the relevant institution should attend to it without delay.
Likewise if it is a human rights violation complaint – you should investigate and make recommendations to concerned parties with urgency. I call on those relevant constitutional offices to rise up, strategise and support the government to Take Back PNG!
