Bury differences, work with MP, leader says
The National, Thursday February 12th, 2015
A COMMUNITY leader in Kagua, Southern Highlands, is calling on leaders opposing MP James Lagea to put aside their differences and work with him for the sake of the people.
It follows unsuccessful bids by three losing candidates to challenge in court Lagea’s 2012 election victory.
Nicholas Sambu said after beating off the three election petitions, Lagea should be allowed to concentrate on delivering services.
He said supporters of the three petitioners must realise that the courts had ruled on the petitions.
Sambu said they could challenge Lagea again in the 2017 general election.
“There are appropriate government agencies to deal with the MP on any allegations or leadership issues against him, if there are any,” he said.
“Therefore, it is not in the people’s interest to distract the MP from performing his duties.”
He urged the people to give their undivided support during his term in office. He said despite different political affiliations in the district, at the end, Lagea is the leader. Lagea is serving his second term in Parliament.
