Bus fare increase concerns passengers

 MADANG PMV operators say the K10 increase in fares between Lae and Madang is more than justified considering the service they provide and road conditions.

They said their service is more than just about transportation.

Adult passengers are now paying K60 between Lae and Madang, up from K50.

Passengers raised concern about operators charging extra, especially at a time when the two bridges at Ramu and Bora were damaged. They said they had to pay locals to move their cargo and bags from one side of the river to the other.

Drivers and operators claimed the fare increase was still not enough as it did not cover extra cargo.
