The National, Friday July 10th, 2015
The Gordon bus stop and market area needs police presence, National Capital District Metro Supt Andy Bawa says.
Overcrowding and busy traffic in the bus stop area and along shops prompted concern about public safety and Bawa said the situation had to be looked at closely about regular police presence. He said the situation would be addressed after consultation with the Gordon police station commander.
The temporary Unagi Oval bus stop once provided space for PMV buses and commuters.
It was closed off before the Pacific Games opening ceremony last Saturday.
Bawa said after talks with the Gordon police station commader and the officers there, they would increase police presence there.
“Public safety is our concern and we will put in place more officers there,” Bawa said.
