KOKOPO Business College in East New Britain (ENB) intends to increase its enrolment for 2021 academic year, a school official says.
College caretaker Ben Koyo told The National that this year, they were looking at enrolling more students for both diploma and certificate courses.
Koyo said their target was 1,000 students, especially for first-year students, with enrolment figure to increase to more than 500 students so the college could reach its target of 1,000.
He said the increased enrolment would mean the extension and improvement of facilities such as dormitories and classrooms.
“We anticipate increased funding from both the national and provincial governments to build more or improve existing facilities to cater for the increase in enrolments as this institution will soon transition to polytechnical status,” he said.
“I urge the ENB government to assist with counterpart funding as this institution passes out business graduates who contribute to the development of the province and the nation.”
Koyo gave a brief update on the college and all the course programmes which included the diploma in business with accounting, management and computing and office administration – all going for two years; the diploma in business tourism and hospitality management is also for two years; and, the diploma foundation studies which is a six-month course.
KBC is also offering national certificate programmes (NC), including: national certificate in office administration (level one-three); NC in tourism operation (level one); national certificate in hospitality operation (level two); and, national certificate in commercial cookery (level two).
All national certificate courses are for six months.
