THE PNG Business Council held its 2013 annual general meeting recently and appointed new executives.

Outgoing president Ernie Gangloff presented his report, which highlighted critical engagement forums with government and other stakeholders in promoting private sector development in Papua New Guinea.

“With a strong emphasis on the robust public private sector dialogue through the national working group Improving investment and business climate, businesses are now more engaged in designing policies to develop the private sector,” he said.

“Such an engagement is critical and informed members that positive developments have come about in the infrastructure, work permits and visas as well as facilitating trade and investment relations with bilateral partners.

“More work is required … however, the dialogue is a testimony of the strong will of both the business council and the government to collectively develop the private sector.”

Newly-elected  president David Toua thanked outgoing Gangloff and his executives for their significant efforts in growing the private sector’s relationship with the government and public service.
