A GROUP of 874 people in the Anglimp-South Waghi electorate, Jiwaka, can now access loans from the National Development Bank for small business activities.

Bank credit scheme manager Daniel Wohwiehembe revealed that last Friday at Komun in Jiwaka during the launching of the second batch of loan credit scheme.

Wohwiehembe said the district was the first in the country to have such a number of people receiving loans from the bank and engaging in business activities.

Local MP Joe Koim put K1 million last year into the bank so that people could apply for loans and start business activities.

Wohwiehembe commended Koim for coming up with the credit scheme to help the people.

He said the economy in the district was stable because people were involved in money-making activities.

“I’m making this appeal to each and every one of you in the Anglimp – South Waghi electorate not to give up,” Wohwiehembe said.

“This is the starting point where you will live a better life and do away with the free handout mentality as well and earn something from your sweat.”
