Businessman fails to appear in court over migration offences

A Malaysian businessman charged with migration-related offences failed to appear at the Boroko District Court yesterday.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Peter Asi said Peter Ling Koh Woo whose name was listed for arraignment but failed to show up.
Asi said a check of the court cell block confirmed that Ling Koh Woo was not in custody.
The National Court last week ordered that Ling Koh Woo’s detention last Thursday was unlawful and ordered his release.
Justice Hitelai Polume-Kiele also ordered that  he should remain free until his immigration charges were laid and specified clearly.
Ling Koh Woo, 65, from Sabah, is charged with making false representation with an obligation and for making a false declaration to obtain a business permit.
