THE Butibam Volleyball Association (BVA), as the newest volleyball association in Lae, is eager to start the 2010 season, and has pledged to work alongside other associations in the province in preparation for the upcoming Northern Zone and National titles.
According to BVA spokesman and Northern Zone Volleyball tournament director Wilson Bogan, the code had died in Lae and BVA could help revive it.
The BVA’s round one will start this weekend at the current temporary venue at Ambisi in the Hunter Compound and interested teams and players are urged to register to participate in the competition.
Bogan is expecting 14 to 15 teams this season, “as interest is mounting in the city,” and will secure permanent land space from the area’s landowners.
He said BVA would work closely with Huon, Nadzab, Gifasing and Mare in preparation for the Northern Zone volleyball championships in June which will be hosted by BVA, and the process will be the same for the National Volleyball Championships which will be hosted by the Huon Association.
