BUTTERFLIES began their Port Moresby Rugby League campaign on a positive note after the club received balls and training gear from a medical company last week.
Sesago Healthcare Limited managing director Omtralash Seshadri said Butterflies had a history of producing quality semi-professional players over the years.
“We know that Butterflies have produced a lot of good players for the national competition (Digicel Cup) and we are grateful to support such club,” Seshadri said.
“We are also a minor sponsor of the Port Moresby Vipers.
“Vipers chairman Dr Newton Albert told us about Butterflies and we decided to support the club in a little way.
“But we will be around and we will continue to support the club going forward.”
Club president Patricia Urum said the support amid the Covid-19 pandemic was encouraging.
“It may seem small but it means a lot in such times,” she said.
“The Butterflies have a history of producing inter-city players and many of them have made it to the PNG Kumuls.
“Players like Jessie Joe Parker, Joseph Omai, and others.”
