Buying weapons a waste of funds

Letters, Normal

THE proposal by Correctional Services Minister Tony Aimo to buy the so-called non-lethal weapons is a total waste of taxpayers’ money.
In my opinion, this will only add more fuel to the current law and order problems in our country.
The minister has failed to tell us what the advantages are of buying the weapons.
Will it end the constant jail breakouts as we have seen in the last few years?
Will it revitalise our weak CS constitution?
I call on Aimo to be more prudent because it can cause destruction if the weapons were to fall into the hands of the prisoners.
If I were Aimo, I would use the funds to rebuild, upgrade and refurbish all our deteriorating jails, improve the salary for CS officers and restructure the chain of command to maintain military discipline and authority.
