BOUGAINVILLE say they will resume training tomorrow despite the Kumul Petroleum National Soccer League’s (NSL) indefinite suspension due to the Covid-19 state of emergency (SOE).
Coach David Passam told The National yesterday that 10 players would undergo training at Ela Beach while the rest of the squad would join them next week.
He said Bougainville would train every Saturday until the Papua New Guinea Football Association (PNGFA) and NSL advised club’s about the resumption of the country’s premier football competition.
“When the resumption date is confirmed, we will resume full training,” Passam said.
“Right now, we are not sure if the competition will resume.
“We haven’t heard anything from PNG yet but we’re just trying to keep our players fit.
“All our players had been training on their own during the SOE.
“For now, we’re trying to re-group and have our first training session since the SOE.
“Some of our players are out of town.
“But they will join us in the next couple of weeks depending on what PNGFA’s advice.” Bougainville are sixth on the ladder after round 10 with eight more match days before the playoffs.
They are on 11 points after winning three games and losing seven.
Passam said they would look to climb up the ladder in a bid to make the playoffs.
