B’ville welcomes Japan for phase 2 of bridge construction

Japanese Ambassador Satoshi Nakajima and his delegation were welcomed for phase two of the construction of a bridge project in Bougainville last week.
Bougainville regional MP Joe Lera said: “Japanese contribution towards Bougainville’s infrastructure development with services is vital to strengthen bilateral and historical ties with Papua New Guinea and the Autonomous Region of Bougainville.”
Lera told the delegation that Bougainville needed all the assistance that it could get from its international partners and aid donors at present.
He said the Japanese government through Jica (Japanese funding agency) contributed much towards Bougainville’s infrastructure development, the education and health.
