By-election wasting money

Letters

THERE is no need for a costly by-election for Goroka Open.
The court of disputed returns ordered a recount of the votes up to elimination number 28.
That was an order of the court that seemingly was not followed when another decision ruled for a by-election.
As a village court magistrate, I see the verdict for a by-election as being disrespectful of the previous order.
The former ordered the later to harvest bagful of beans from a bean garden but strangely returned with a bag of corn.
Therein lays the problem that has had detrimental developmental consequences for the people of Goroka district.
Bire Kimisopa should appeal for the revocation of the by-election order and request the electoral commission to present the results of the court ordered recount and reveal to us the result at elimination 28.
The truth of what transpired during the count may never be known until the court ordered recount is fully complied with.
Hopefully that will not only end the hype about a by-election but save a lot of money for the electoral commission.
