The National Executive Council has endorsed a proposal by the Department of Education for the Papua New Guinea Education Institute to be moved.
Prime Minister Peter O’Neill said that Cabinet has approved the relocation and redevelopment of the institute to its new site behind the Port Moresby National High School and the University of PNG.
“We have directed the Department of Lands and Physical Planning to acquire the land area under the Land Act to develop the new PNGEI campus,” O’Neill said.
He said Cabinet has also approved the funding of K3 million for scoping works and further directed the Department of Treasury to source the funding to commence the project immediately. “The Department of Lands and Physical Planning has been also directed to fast track the subdividing of the land known as Portion 2010 and award titles to cater for the development of whole-of the Government growth centre.”
