TWENTY-EIGHT officer cadets graduated on Friday after two years of training at the Joint Forces College in Igam Military Barracks, Morobe.
Thirteen are from the Papua New Guinea Defence Force, eight Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary and seven from Correctional Service.
Out of the 28 graduating officer cadets, prizes and awards were awarded to the outstanding cadets.
The cadets who received the awards in the class of 1/2017 during the second JFC graduation were; Spairong Alex (top CS Cadet), Mairi Arau (top RPNGC Cadet & Leadership Award), Kewa Wayne (top PNGDF Cadet, most outstanding cadet & Academic Award-having the highest aggregated marks) and Officer Cadet Pakira Randy of PNGDF (Tactics Award).
Correctional Service Commissioner Steven Pokanis who addressed the graduating officer cadet class 1/2017, congratulated the officers on behalf of the Joint Forces Council members for giving their best in the last 24 months of training at Joint Forces College.
“We hope your families are so proud of you even those that cannot make it they know you are graduating today (Friday) congratulations to all of you.”
Pokanis said the decision to start the college goes back to 2014 with the signing of agreement between the three discipline forces.
He said from 2014 up to now amid challenges every-one had being working together to make sure anyone who attends the college was trained well to be a commissioner officer for their respective organisations whether it be PNGDF, RPNGC and CS.
“Having graduated further in your career you can strategies together, established good network, cooperate with each other, work together even sharing resources and your skills together to deliver the national security of the country.”
The officer cadet will return to their respective organisation where they will be allocated their locations of work and duty to perform.
