A SECURED trading venue for craft sellers is important in order to promote Papua New Guinea’s arts, Moresby Arts Theatre (MAT) craft market acting president Hamish George says.

He highlighted that security was a key challenge faced by craft and other sellers.

George said MAT wanted to promote PNG arts to a wider community and at the same time build face to face relationship between the sellers and their customers.

“Papua New Guineans sometimes confuse us with the museum. We are different, our core function is to host shows, markets. We hold market for everyone, not dimdims (expatriates) only. Also, because of not much funding we (MAT) rely on money we raise to help maintain the place”.

The venue is open for trading every second Saturday of each month and K10 fee is used for maintenance of MAT.
