The University of PNG law school should be internationally compatible in as far as its standard is concerned, Prime Minister James Marape says.
Marape who opened the new K52 million building on Friday said it was true that the designer and contractor were Papua New Guineans.
“Now you have a world-class building. The onus is on the university to work with the school of law to do your best,” he said.
“I want this school to raise its bar and those who come off this school will be qualified to practice law.”
He acknowledged his predecessor Peter O’Neill and his government for coming up with the idea.
“Give credit where it’s due and let’s commend the O’Neill-Abel government,” Marape said.
“We look forward to this building shaping the future generation of our country especially those who come to the school of law to (receive) the highest training of legal practitioners.”
The building was designed by late Robert Kapi of Korona Consultant Ltd.
