KUMUL Telikom Holdings Limited acting managing director Jessie Wangua is urging all businesses under the group to contribute to significant and meaningful transformation and business growth.
He said this while acknowledging Telikom PNG for its commitment and efforts in securing the Australia Papua New Guinea 2 (APNG-2) submarine cable to the shores of the country 15 years ago.
The APNG-2 submarine cable, which was a critical communication link with Australia and rest of the world was decommissioned in Port Moresby on Friday.
The decommissioning will now see the country moving into using the new link – the Coral Sea Submarine Cable (CS2) system.
“At KTHL level, we embrace transformation objectives of our government for our people and country,” he said.
“This is now realised in our efforts to rationalise our businesses on the wholesale and retail fronts.
“So that we align well our resources, integrate and merge our technologies and unify our human contributions to achieve our common business objectives.”
Wangua noted that key focus areas would be:

  • ACHIEVNING the Government’s intent of merging the two retail businesses – Telikom and bmobile for enhanced performance, improved service coverage and profitability;
  • ENHANCE its wholesale core infrastructure footprint in supporting PNG DataCo achieve its National Transmission Network (NTN) objectives; and,
  • COLLECTIVELY, operate its businesses successfully and returning benefits to shareholders and the people.

“As we look forward from here, I want to acknowledge commitment and efforts by Telikom PNG in securing APNG2 cable to our shores some 15 years ago,” Wangua said.
