Call for Parkop to close Gordon’s Market

The National, Thursday February 27th, 2014

I WOULD  like to ask NCD  Governor Powes Parkop to close down the Gordon’s Market.

I  am  a  mother  and a victim who was stabbed by one of the pick pockets at the market on Feb 18.

I was in a bus when this incident happened; the guy who stabbed me put  his hands into my shirt and held my breast continuously, saying ‘kisim kam out’.

I did not know what he was referring to, maybe money, he told me to keep quiet and not to scream.

And when I screamed for help, he stabbed me in the back.

Because he did not succeed in getting my bag and he was leaving, he threatened  me and said that he lived  at the corner of Gordon’s Market and that  he  remembered my  face and would look for me again.

Please, I am calling on Parkop, the National Capital District Commission and the government to hear the cries of such helpless mothers and young daughters and sisters who  are always  and  have  been  victims  at Gordon’s Market.

These types of incidents happen almost every day whether in broad daylight, in  the  afternoons  or  anytime during the day that we travel to or from  Gordon’s.

We experience these attacks and abuse by the bystanders and pick pocket  boys at the bus stops and inside  the  market  itself.

I  have witnessed many incidents and  now I am a victim.

Please do something about Gordon’s Market.
