TEACHERS from Catholic schools in East Sepik have been commended for their efforts and urged to continue serving with pride.
This was according to Wewak Diocese Bishop Jozef Roszynski during the International Catholic Teachers Day celebrations in Wewak last Wednesday.
Roszynski also acknowledged teachers from other denominations who served at Catholic schools.
“Teachers must be honest, fair, and practice commitments and dedication to their students,” he said.
“Although your superiors might not see your hard work, God sees your hearts and commitments.”
The celebrations started as early as 8am and all Catholic schools in Wewak were to have been closed to observe the day.
Teachers and students arrived with banners and decorated vehicles to mark the day.
Head teacher from the St Theresa Primary School at Yarapos said: “It was the first time such an event was staged in Wewak, especially to recognise International Catholic Teachers Day.”
