Call for unified rights group

A UNIFIED consumer rights organisation should represent, protect and empower consumers, rather than having different consumer rights groups, an official says.
The Consumers Foundation Association Inc of PNG commemorated World Consumer Rights Day last Sunday.
It is affiliated with Consumer International.
Association president Dan Kakaraya said it was created to promote the interests of consumers and ensure they were treated fairly, safely and honestly.
“However, we need the help of every consumer and consumer protection groups in PNG,” he said.
Kakaraya said there were many consumer protection groups established and he would like to appeal to them to merge as a collective front so they could work together to achieve the goal to protect consumers.
PNG Consumer Protection Group president Wilson Punim urged other groups to join saying there was more that could be achieved together than separately.
The social media group has more than 10,000 followers.
