Call to appoint Wagambie Jr

Letters

THE National Executive Council should consider appointing Anthony Wagambie Jr as Police Commissioner, after the three months acting period of current acting Police Commissioner Francis Tokura.
There are many capable hard working Papua New Guineans who deserve to be promoted to the Police Commissioner’s role and one of those notable officers is Wagambie Jr.
He has the credibility and reputation and history speaks for itself too.
His father Anthony Wagambie Sr was also a former acting Police Commissioner so he comes from a well reputable police background.
His work has proven records as seen in and around Lae city with reduced crime rates despite facing limited resources to curb crime.
Give him the opportunity of the top post as he deserves it. He stands out among the other hard working officers too and I don’t see any reasons why he will be overlooked.
Furthermore, Tokura will be the right person for the job in Bougainville as he is fully aware of issues relating to the referendum.
It will also compliment him given the background of his origin.
It will be injustice to other senior officers within police hierarchy for Tokura to double the roles.
