THE Western Highlands provincial government has been urged to extend the Mt Hagen’s main bus stop to cater for the increasing number of buses.
Gibson Nui, a small businessman from Waghi Wan village, near the Madan Plantation, in the Anglimp local level government of Jiwaka, raised the concern during a media conference yesterday.
Nui said overcrowding and limited spaces at the bus stop were an ongoing problem PMV drivers faced.
Nui said the bus stop served route 100 and city routes.
He said it was the main bus stop for Jiwaka, Chimbu, Goroka, Lae and Madang.
“ It is funny to see drivers jostle for spaces while crews struggle to fill seats in a crammed situation. It is a daily scene at the bus stop,’’ he said.
Nui, who runs a bus service at Kindeng, Avi and Anglimp, the said mining boom in Southern Highlands, Hela and Enga, helped people get involved in businesses.
Nui said people were starting to buy vehicles, especially PMVs.
