Call to fund authority

Letters

AN article in The National on Friday regarding Central Governor Robert Agarobe giving K1 million to the Hiri Special Purpose Authority to launch its operations compels me to raise the issue of Erave LLG Special Purpose Authority.
Erave LLG SPA was set up by way of a National Executive Council decision #16/2007 as the development vehicle for the Gobe Project Area and subsequently proclaimed by the governor-general on April 16, 2007.
After a long court battle initiated by our local politician, the Supreme Court made a decision in favour of the current board on Oct 30, 2012.
The Erave LLG SPA is yet to be operational.
This funding delay is unprecedented.
Hundreds of correspondences and visits to government agencies have been to no avail.
The only plausible explanation is political impediment. Sadly, our cries to the former prime minister were to no avail either.
How could the one term Central Governor be able to quickly discern the impact of a SPA in his province while the three term Southern Highlands governor has ignored a development vehicle sanctioned by the NEC, the highest decision-making body?
I appeal to Prime Minister James Marape to investigate this funding debacle.
More children and mothers are dying in the remote Erave district as politics take a strangle hold on the funding of Erave LLG SPA.

General Secretary/Manager
