Call to probe Apec vehicles

The Opposition is calling on the Ombudsman Commission to carry out an independent investigation into the Apec vehicles allocated to MPs in the pretext of giving them to districts.
Opposition leader Belden Namah claimed that Apec vehicles allocated to MPs was extra vehicle allowances, over and above those approved for each MP by the Salaries and Conditions Monitoring Committee and therefore tantamount to inducement and official corruption.
Namah said the Government could not hoodwink the public by saying the vehicles were allocated to district development authorities (DDA) after realising its blunder.
“The chairman of each DDA is the local MP and so it still is an allocation to the MP.”
