Call to relieve Manning

THE Catholic Professional Society of PNG is urging the Government to relieve Police Commission David Manning of his National Pandemic Response Controller’s duty and allow him to concentrate on law and order.
Society president Paul Harricknen spoke out following last week’s killings in Port Moresby and the clash between police and Tommy Baker’s gang in Alotau.
“Recently, too much attention has been given to the Covid-19 and not enough attention on the daily issues and challenges of the people,” Harricknen said.
“Our leaders must determine our own priorities and take full management and control of the affairs of the nation.
“Our forefathers and fathers provided us a blueprint for leadership and governance of statecraft in the five national goals and directive principles as embedded in our Constitution and the present leaders must not stray away from these goals.”
