Call to support hospital

Letters

MINGENDE Rural Hospital in Chimbu is known as one of the best when it comes to giving pure nursing care.
While it continues to strive to maintain that status, the most important component of its operation has fallen apart – the X-ray machine has been out of operation since 2017.
That has put the hospital in a dilapidated state up till now.
All x-ray required operations have been referred to the major referral hospital – the Kundiawa Sir Joseph Nombri’s Memorial Hospital since then.
However, given the six-star rating of the major referral hospital, the number of clients seen there increases daily and hence the referred clients often encounter delays.
For that matter a “good Samaritan” Mathias Merimba through his Mendikwae Holdings company has donated K20,000 to Mingende hospital to purchase a new X-ray machine early this year.
However, the price of the unit exceeds the donation made.
Therefore, the board of management of the rural hospital is hereby calling on the Simbu government under the leadership of Governor Michael Bogai Dua, the provincial health division, good-hearted individuals, interested SOEs in the likes of the National Gaming Control Board (NGCB) and most importantly the development partners and NGOs to come forward and support with funds.
A special appeal is also made to all Jiwaka MPs to voluntarily support in this cause as almost 30 per cent of Jiwakans receive treatment at Mingende on daily basis.
A comprehensive and collective support for this vital cause is indeed required to get the x-ray department up and running to serve the multitudes who need X-ray assistance daily.
