EDA Ranu is appealing to city residents and business houses to use water wise during the long dry spell.

Chief executive officer Henry Mokono said yesterday that many people in the city may die from water borne diseases if the water level at Sirinumu Reservoir dropped.

“At the moment the water level has gone down to 45 per cent of the full spill level, but if the dry spell continues for long period, we might be forced to cut water pressure,” Mokono said.

“We are working closely with PNG Power to ensure enough water is supplied throughout the city as it will affect power supply too.”

He urged people and businesses to avoid water spillage, stop illegal connections and to use water wisely.
