POLICE in Western Highlands have been praised for maintaining law and order during the LLG elections.
Mt Hagen rural LLG presidential candidate Cr Jacob Kop said police played their role to protect lives and properties.
Kop said law and order was important and people had raised concern about it.
He said elections always brought problems but the police had done a good job.
“Without police presence, there would have been problems, death and destruction to properties.
“The men in blue need to be commended for their tireless effort during this election,” he said.
He said they escorted officials and inspected polling stations.
“I’m happy with the work of police. Business houses were operating as usual and people carried on with their normal lives.”
Kop said they had been working hard to make sure peace was maintained.
