A CANDIDATE for the Lai Valley local level government president’s seat in Southern Highlands has thanked his rivals for conducting a peaceful campaign so far.
Joe Marie urged candidates vying for the ward council seats to campaign likewise and ensure a peaceful election in the LLG.
Marie said 25 candidates were running for the president’s seat.
The ward councillors are after seats in the 26 LLGs.
While generally happy with the election campaign so far, he urged fellow candidates and supporters to stop misleading voters on the local level government service improvement programme.
He said the funds were for services and not for supporters and candidates to use.
He said some candidates were telling voters that the funds would be managed by them.
“I appeal to all president candidates not to mislead our voters,” he said.
