A VOTE is worth millions of kina, so voters should be wise who they voted for, Lae urban ward one council candidate Jeffrey Lucas said.

Lucas, a youth leader from Admin compound, made the statement last week in Lae, challenging voters to be wise in screening and choosing their candidates.

He said that would translate into whether public funds would be mismanaged in the next five years.

“It’s now election time; your one vote represents millions of kina in the real life system of governance and leadership in this country, you must vote for a candidate who knows how to do bottom-up planning, which is important,” Lucas said.

“For a leader to come up with a proposal that will be used to get development funding is an important task that can open up opportunities for basic developments, especially tapping into support grants,” he said.

He said it was important to get in the right leader at this time when the economy was booming and the government was focusing on the people in the wards, local level governments and district levels.
