Capital city boxers to get time in ring at tournament

NATIONAL Capital District boxing team members will get valuable time in the ring this weekend with a tournament set for Saturday.
The bouts will be held at Kingsbury social club at Murray Barracks with Team NCD’s nine male and five female boxers expected to take on opponents from the city’s clubs as well as those from outside Port Moresby.
Organiser Bona Ae said he had invited boxers from the capital as well as Kairuku (KABA), Central and Hiri associations.
“Our fighters need to get some time in the ring before the PNG Games so we’re having this tournament and we’ve sent word to fighters from as far as Kairuku to challenge our team,” Ae said.
Ae said he was hoping for a good turn out as he expected Team Central to enter their boxers.
