Capital hosts business meet

PAPUA New Guinea’s annual two-day investment summit – the Papua New Guinea Advantage 2013 – will be held next month at the Gateway Hotel in Port Moresby.
PNG’s top business leaders will meet for two days for high level keynotes, panel discussions, briefings, question-and-answer sessions and more.
Delegates would have access to a number of speakers, including the International Finance Corporation’s (IFC) vice-president for Asia-Pacific Karin Finkelston, top economist Tim Harcourt and Marie Sornin from social media giant Twitter.
The summit programme promises to feature a stellar gathering of some of PNG and the region’s top business leaders.
Highlights include the opening of the event by Prime Minister Peter O’Neill.
Harcourt, top economist and highly engaging business speaker, will give his expert take on the region’s economic future.
Public Enterprises Minister Ben Micah will speak on the latest reforms to state-owned enterprises.
Sornin will discuss how the internet giant sees the future of mobile marketing.
A keynote presentation on regional investment trends from Finkelston, vice-resident-Asia Pacific, International Finance Corporation (IFC).
BSP’s new chief executive Robin Fleming will make a presentation on managing risk in PNG. Bank of PNG Governor Loi Bakani will provide an economic briefing on PNG and Telikom PNG chairman Mahesh Patel and Digicel PNG’s chief executive John Mangos will take up telecommunications.
An expert panel including Frank Kramer and John Hewson would discuss opportunities in PNG’s post-LNG economy.
Other panel sessions will focus on opportunities in PNG’s provinces, infrastructure and transport, equity investment and more.
