WITH the tough economic times facing PNG, it is quite tough for community-oriented sporting competition to attract corporate sponsorships.
However, it was not the case for 2 Fast Motors, who stepped in last week, to support the Gordon Netball Association.
2 Fast Motors administration manager Christine Willyman donated two balls, four whistles and a pump to association for the grand final on Sunday.
“The donation may be small but at least the youths involved in the netball competition will build their respect towards business houses,” she said.
She added that the association requested for T-shirts and caps but they would not get them ready in time for the finals.
“We decided to substitute them with equipment to show our kind gesture to the women of Gordon,” she said.
Company chief executive officer Billy Lin said he was proud to promote untapped netball talents.
Major sponsor Clemence Kanau said the support was the start of a long relationship and hoped the partnership would continue next year.
Association president Kendi Hubert thanked Lin and the management for recognising them.
Hubert said companies operating in the Gordon Industrial area should support sports and other activities in their neighbourhood.
